The beginnings of Team Mancuso Powersports were founded in 1979 by Harley enthusiast Johnny Mancuso, although then the company was dubbed American Speed. Coming from a PowerSports background himself, Houston’s own Mancuso was drag-racing cars at a young age, later building NHRA national event-winning car motors. With a lifelong passion for automobiles, Mancuso was surprised when his first Harley-Davidson® changed everything.
With a “need for speed” and a new 1974 Super Glide® in tow, Johnny soon found himself building and racing his bikes while crafting V-twin motors for others. As Mancuso steadily enhanced his building and customization skills and technical know-how, he was soon encouraged to strive for more. Before long, Johnny was employed full-time in the motorcycle industry. At this time, Mancuso was working out of his small shop in Sharpstown where he first met his partner, John (JT) Johnson. They didn’t know it then, but together they would do great things.
Team Mancuso PowerSports Expansions and New Locations
In June of 1983, Mancuso and Johnson acquired their first Harley franchise which was later merged with their first business to form Mancuso Harley=Davidson®. The partners’ original location at 535 N Loop has since expanded 8 times, continuing to provide that old-timey Harley-Davidson® environment. Furthermore, Houston Area #One H.O.G.®, founded here in 1984 is one of the oldest and most active chapters in existence with over 300 members.
2003 saw the opening of a second location at 12710 Crossroads Park Drive in Northwest Hampton. This 54,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility offers an impressive selection of Harley motorcycles, parts, riding gear, and apparel. Additionally, this location is home to the premier service center in town, also offering rider education.
Despite their affinity for Harley-Davidson®, Mancuso PowerSports is not exclusive to one brand. They are proud to carry a handful of popular brands, including:
