Overview

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Business Process Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Demand Chain team in Kennesaw, GA. This role is responsible for leading and facilitating YMUS Demand chain initiatives in collaboration with various Business Units to positively impact the following metrics:  Customer response time, Overall supply/demand lead time, dealer fill rates, working capital, etc.  This candidate will establish & develop the YMUS business process improvement culture through targeted implementation initiatives & targeted training.

 

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate process improvement activities within backend business functions.  Works individually or with a team to complete projects following 8 Step Process based on Toyota Production System and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Design, develop, and implement improved workflows with respect to demand and supply activities such as:  unit ordering, planning, production scheduling, part ordering, shipping, etc.
  • Plan, organize, and lead week-long Kaizen Blitz events or facilitate multi-day workshops as required.
  • Train as required personnel in principles of Lean Mindset (8 Wastes, Value added/Non-value-added analysis, poka yoke, etc.), and Formal Problem-Solving techniques.
  • Develop and/or acquire as needed training material for business process improvements.
  • Understand the People, Process, Technology aspects of the processes and improve on overall efficiency by balancing the three dimensions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot inefficient business processes. Perform process analysis, design, and refinement.
  • Perform value stream mapping.  Facilitate the creation of system wide enterprise value stream maps and lead the analysis of opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities, participate, and complete projects as identified by YMUS Demand Chain unit and support annual goals.
  • Provides support to YMUS business units as part of Demand Chain Initiatives.
  • On a limited basis support manufacturing subsidiaries. Must be able to develop and maintain time study document, conduct Value Added Analysis (VAA) and perform classic IE time studies and optimize labor line balance when required.
  • Assist in the development and visualization of working capital (dealer inventory, consumption rate, planned production) vs. targets.
  • Update master project lists.  Provide summary progress reports for management review.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year technical degree required (Industrial Engineering degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing or business process environment
  • Minimum of 2 years Project Management experience
  • Minimum of 2 years Lean Six Sigma experience
  • Demonstrated application of engineering skills and problem-solving techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with applied experience working in a team environment
  • Capable of working with minimal direction and supervision
  • Preferred: Lean Certification, Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Must be able to stand in manufacturing and office areas – minimum for 40% to maximum of 60%
