Motorcycle Testing Technician

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Motorcycle Testing Technician to join our Motorsports team in Cypress, CA. The primary responsibilities of the Motorcycle Testing Technician are to evaluate both on-road and off-road motorcycles to create test reports for product & accessory development. The evaluations may involve data acquisition, translation, and presentation of data. This will include preparing, maintaining, and repairing a fleet and vehicles. Additional responsibilities may include presentations in front of large groups in a formal professional setting.

 

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Perform basic and high-level mechanical maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
Ability to meticulously prepare machines for tests, including mechanical set-up, instrument placement, and packaging hardware for safe operation.
Communicate vehicle evaluation findings clearly and concisely both verbally and through Excel, PowerPoint Presentations.
High-level of off-road motorcycle riding skill is required, MX racing background is preferred. Must be able to ride on road for long distances over many hours.
General mechanical, electrical, and software diagnostic and design knowledge and experience. Engine Dyno, Suspension Dyno, FARO arm and 2-D data experience is a plus.
Clean driving record with the ability to drive large box vans with trailers and pass annual health checkups.
Present professional attitude when interfacing with media and feel comfortable presenting technical information / answering technical questions during company media and dealer events.
Machine shop fabrication and welding experience preferred.
Must have a very strong mechanical background. Knowledge and experience with a variety of off-road and on-road motorcycles.
Must have a strong work ethic and work well with other groups with a high level of confidentiality & organizational skills.   Must be able to prioritize multiple requests in a timely and positive manner.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent work experience
Must have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience testing, including mechanical, electrical, and materials experience
Must have strong computer skills – data acquisition, analysis and results compiling a plus
Must have a valid driver’s license, and clean driving record. Including a motorcycle endorsement.
Must be able to pass an annual physical exam for DOT for commercial vehicles 10K-26K Lbs.
Must have a high level of riding skill for both off road and on road motorcycles
Must be able to use Excel, Word, and Power Point and communicate effectively
High level mechanical skill to service, overhaul, and troubleshoot mechanical systems is a must
Extensive travel both domestically and internationally will be required.
