TECHNICAL TRAINER – MURRIETA, CA
 
KTM, a global leader in the off-road motorcycle competition segment and developer and producer of street as well as off-road motorcycles, has an exciting opportunity for a TECHNICAL TRAINER located in MURRIETA, CA.  
 
SUMMARY
 
Under general supervision, the Technical Trainer provides technical training to dealership service technicians who work on customer motorcycles. Includes developing related coursework materials and delivering hands-on training in a classroom setting.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
 

  • Develops technical training curriculum and/or materials using knowledge of/expertise in motorcycle mechanics. May collaborate with others in the development of certain course materials and training aides, as needed.
  • Conducts hands-on technical training in a classroom setting to dealership service technicians using factory approved specifications.
  • Develops classroom work stations with the goal of providing hands on training to achieve training objectives.
  • Tests the knowledge of students during and after training, and conveys the necessity for training and education continuation.
  • Coordinates the organization of courses, attendees, and related tasks associated with each training event.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Generally requires a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in training and development with technical/motorcycle focus; requires a minimum of five (5) years OEM/motorcycle industry experience. Teaching background preferred. Required proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Must be knowledgeable of KTM products, KTM dealer.net, and KTM Warranty policies/procedures.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  High school diploma required. Education and/or certification in motorcycle technical programs and training or teaching a plus.
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 

  • Superior written and oral presentation skills
  • High technical knowledge and expertise in motorcycles (i.e. maintenance, mechanics, etc.)
  • Ability to teach in a classroom setting
  • Good customer service skills with ability to relay importance of customer service into trainings
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven and constantly changing environment
  • Flexibility to switch gears with little notice
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and understand when to escalate potential issues
  • Basic math skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy; must be team player

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None
 
CONTACTS:
Internal: Mechanical and technical staff at Company’s various subsidiaries; training staff in corporate HQ in Austria
External: Dealer mechanical and technical staff; MMI instructors; various training vendors 
 
JUDGEMENT/REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to recognize discrepancies and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy.  Requires ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when issues need to be escalated.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The noise in the work environment is usually moderate.  Other factors are:
 
 

  • Ability to travel if needed.  Travel is moderate in this position (approximately up to 20%).
  • Hectic, fast-paced with multi-level distractions
  • Professional, yet casual office work environment
  • Ability to work extended hours as required
