Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues using specialized diagnostic tools and equipment.
Routine Maintenance: Perform standard services including oil changes, brake inspections, tire mounting and balancing, and chain adjustments.
Customization: Install aftermarket parts, performance upgrades, and accessories according to customer preferences.
Quality Assurance: Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) and test rides to verify repairs meet strict safety and factory standards.
Documentation: Accurately log parts used, labor hours, and maintenance recommendations into the dealership or repair shop’s system.
Core Requirements
Certifications: Formal technical training and manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, BMW, Aprilia, Ducati).
Licensing: A valid driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement is almost always required to perform necessary test rides.
Tool Ownership: Technicians are typically expected to provide their own standard and specialized mechanic tool sets.
Physical Stamina: The ability to lift heavy parts, stand for long periods, and maneuver powersports vehicles.
