Overview

WPS is seeking an experienced Warehouse Freight Supervisor from the local Midlothian, TX area to lead the freight team at our busy regional distribution center in Midlothian, TX. The Freight Supervisor oversees all inbound and outbound freight handling and freighting operations. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and must be able to professionally and effectively interact with a wide range of departments and personalities while working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

Well-qualified individuals will have two plus years of experience in a distribution center lead role, as well as a clear knowledge and understanding of warehouse freight processes, vendor relations, product handling, receiving and packing operations. Candidates must also be comfortable working with a computerized ERP order entry and inventory  system. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Supervise a diverse team of associates with varied skills and experience to meet daily operational goals
  • Ensure all freight equipment is staged and ready for shift rotations and that all equipment is maintained on a regular and proficient basis
  • Coordinate package handling for both inbound and outbound operations to ensure timely replenishment of inventory in all merchandising and pick mod areas of operation
  • Assist departmental Supervisors and Managers with administrative functions, including training of other team members to ensure compliance to all work instructions and safety requirements
  • Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine inbound and outbound priorities, monitors work assignments, and notifies Management of any areas for improvement
  • Provide assistance as needed to the freight crew for loading, unloading and merchandize stocking
  • Assist in resolving any mis-ships or discrepancies as needed
  • Contribute to overall team success by accomplishing any tasks and assignments as needed or directed by management

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE  

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a distribution center/warehouse environment REQUIRED
  • Associates Degree or higher PREFERRED (but not required)
  • Dependable, reliable and highly motivated, with demonstrated leadership, mentoring and teamwork skills REQUIRED
  • Working knowledge of supply chain processes, including freight handling, vendor relations, shipping/receiving flow, inventory management, process control, logistics planning and general warehousing operations REQUIRED
  • Resolute personal and business ethics, with the highest standards of professional conduct at all times REQUIRED
  • A demonstrated personal commitment to safety in all areas at all times REQUIRED
