Software Engineer – Platform Web Services
At MotoSport.com, connect our powersports (dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, motorcycles, sport bikes and cruisers) customers to their passions through the best selection, awesome customer service and cool technology solutions. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to help us develop the platform stack on which to build our next generation of cool tech solutions.
The PDX Engineering Team’s primary purpose is to build the data, application and service layer for the MotoSport.com website and build the tools and processes to enable MotoSport to grow through existing channels and new markets. The Software Engineer – Platform Web Services primary purpose is to support the growth of MotoSport.com by building new software solutions focusing on RESTful web service technology.
If you are the right candidate for the job, you have done full stack software development before, have experience working in an online ecommerce environment, and have no fear of RESTful web services. You know how to architect solutions that require little or no maintenance. You’ve made mistakes over your career and have learned a lot from them.
In this role, you will:
●Use Java and Python to build new RESTful web services.
●Use Java to consume and build/extend Platform web services.
●Write unit tests and own your own code in production.
●Create basic interfaces,dashboard sand internal-use tools with JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5 in the form of Mashups of data from RESTful web services.
●Interface with Graph, NoSQL and, of course, Relational databases.
You will be a strong candidate if you:
●Have 5+ years of software development experience using Java, ideally in an ecommerce environment. While this role is primarily at the service layer, full stack developers are preferred.
●Have experience writing RESTful webservices in Java or Python that return JSON data sets. Also experienced with writing unit tests for them.
●Have working knowledge/basic experience with Linux, Source Control (Git/SVN), Scrum, Node.js, etc. While they’re not required to do the job,they area plus.
●Have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
