Assembler Job Responsibilities:
Installs components by assembling parts and subassemblies to vehilces

 

Assembler Job Duties:

  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by reading measurements or studying assembly instructions.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Previous experience in fabrication, and assembly
  • General knowledge of shop tools (i.e. grinders, saws, sanders)
  • Basic machining skills
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions, specifications, blue prints or work orders required
  • Ability to drive, or be trained to drive forklift
  • A proven track record of stability is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass weld test, and drug screen

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
