Overview

Introduction:
We are looking for multiple hands-on mechanical engineers to lead the development of motorcycle front and rear suspension components from the concept phase to volume production launch. Strong project management and teamwork skills are critical to the success of this position. This is a great opportunity to work for an exciting, product focused company.

Responsibilities:

  • Suspension assembly and component engineering (front forks and shock absorbers)
    • Perform calculations or FEA analysis for function, strength, and durability
    • Apply DFM (design for manufacture/assembly) techniques
    • Apply best practices and design to intended vehicle applications
    • Create 3D models & 2D drawings to support virtual engineering and production release
    • Conduct engineering development and validation tests
    • Create design and validation reports for management review
  • Project management of suspension projects through a structured stage-gate process
  • Engineering change notice (ECN) processing
  • Manage project timelines within a cross functional team

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. Engineering, preferably B.S. Mechanical Engineering
  • 4-8 years of mechanical design experience (a minimum of 2 yrs. in automotive chassis / aerospace landing gear / similar)
  • 3D modeling parametric design & 2D drawings (preferably Solidworks)
  • Interest in suspension designs, motorcycles, or automotive
  • Ability to maintain timelines and meet due dates
  • Familiarity with MS Excel and Word
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 2-6 years of suspension assembly and/or component engineering
  • 2-4 years of vendor management
  • Experience conducting DFMEA
  • Experience in various manufacturing processes (tube bending, CNC machining, etc)
  • Experience in coating & plating technologies (e-coat, powercoat, chrome, anodize)
  • Familiarity with MS Project or other project timing software
  • Detailed knowledge in automotive/motorsports & their chassis components
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5-1994 GD&T
  • Motorcycle License
