HOMOLOGATION AND COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST
KTM North America – a subsidiary of KTM, a global leader in the off-road motorcycle competition segment and developer and producer of street as well as off-road motorcycles – has an exciting opportunity for a HOMOLOGATION COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST in MURRIETA, CA.
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Homologation and Compliance Specialist works closely with internal and external parties to obtain regulatory approvals for KTM products from government agencies in the United States and Canada. Creates and maintains the comprehensive archive/database of compliance documents as well as technical specification sheets for KTM products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs administrative tasks related to specific regulatory and industry standards that KTM products must meet and compiles these standards for quick reference.
- Assists in assessing the minimum subset of regulatory tests required as well as the cost and time associated with obtaining approval.
- Drafts, files and administers various documents supporting technical compliance of KTM products.
- Coordinates the preparation and review of requisite technical documentation to be presented to government agencies.
- Assists with preparation and submittal of routine compliance reports.
- Coordinates pre-testing and after production testing as required and supports testing at accredited laboratories. Attends off-site testing and observes activities for the purpose of documenting results, compiling findings and drafting testing reports.
- Prepares documents to obtain Transport Canada Import approval, US EPA Certificates of Compliance, California Air Resource Board Executive Orders and all other necessary approvals to assure on-time product sales release.
- Assists in the administration of product recalls, including preparing documents to notify government agencies of recall (CPSC, NHTSA, Transport Canada) and gathering/compiling data and submitting related reports to government agencies.
- Creates an archive of all approval documents and related documentation for reference upon request.
- Keeps abreast of changes in US/Canadian Homologation Compliance standards and processes.
- Manages and tracks invoices and POs.
- Handles various special projects, as required.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Generally requires a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in government regulatory affairs/technical specification documentation. Required proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related field required/preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Attention to detail, especially with regards to technical specifications.
- Ability to read and understand complex regulatory documents relating homologation topics
- Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and understand when to escalate potential issues
- Basic motorcycle engineering understanding
- Motorcycle endorsement and experience a plus
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven and constantly changing environment
- Flexibility to switch gears with little notice
- Excellent organization skills
- Basic math skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy; must be team player
- Analytical abilities
- Must be self-motivated with ability to use own initiative

External: Homologation and Certification consultants, test laboratories, motorcycle industry representatives, government agencies, etc.
JUDGEMENT/REASONING ABILITY: Ability to recognize discrepancies and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Requires ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when issues need to be escalated.
