Overview

Introduction:
We are looking for a hands-on engineering manager / lead engineer to lead the development of motorcycle suspension and brake components from the concept phase to volume production launch.
This position will be responsible for managing a team between 4-10 design engineers, product designers, and technicians to most efficiently develop power sport wheels, brakes, suspension, and other accessories. Responsibilities:

  • Achieve new product development revenue and technology development goals
  • Coach virtual engineering tools / data acquisition to optimize designs and improve time to market
  • Conduct engineering design reviews and approve final designs
  • Integrate DFM (design for manufacture/assembly) reviews in new product design process
  • Mentor robust problem solving techniques
  • Lead design conceptualization effort with ideation meetings and team events
  • Effective management, delegation, and follow-up on team’s project status
  • Project management of projects through a structured stage-gate process
  • Build and sustain a team environment while awarding achievement and upholding high standards

 
Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. Engineering, preferably B.S. Mechanical Engineering
  • 6-10 years of mechanical design experience (a minimum of 4 yrs. in automotive chassis / aerospace landing gear / similar)
  • 3D modeling parametric design & 2D drawings (preferably Solidworks)
  • Interest in suspension and brake designs, motorcycles, powersports, or automotive
  • Ability to maintain timelines and meet due dates
  • Familiarity with MS Excel and Word
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

 
Desirable Qualifications:

  • 2-6 years of suspension/brake assembly and/or component engineering
  • 2-4 years involvement in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-4 years involvement in a outsourced model environment
  • Experience conducting DFMEA
  • Experience in various manufacturing processes (tube bending, CNC machining, etc)
  • Experience in coating & plating technologies (e-coat, powercoat, chrome, anodize)
  • Familiarity with MS Project or other project timing software
  • Detailed knowledge in automotive/motorsports & their chassis components
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5-1994 GD&T
  • Motorcycle License
