Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Design Engineer to lead the development of motorcycle accessories from the concept phase to volume production launch. Daily activities would include: specification creation, vendor management, relationship building, and product launch. Strong project management and teamwork skills are critical to the success of this position. This is a great opportunity to work for an exciting, product-focused company!

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer new products from concept through production launch
  • Layout and design of products for fitment to target applications
  • Design and execution of performance and durability testing
  • Project management of accessory development (wheels, braking systems, drive sprockets, air cleaners, engine covers, etc.)
  • Create and maintain specification documents for accessory sourcing and cosmetic requirements
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks to support initial specification
  • Detailed BOM readiness planning, including release status, supplier & stock readiness
  • Engineering change order (ECO) management to meet overall project timing
  • Prepare launch and gate reports for management
  • Manage project timelines with a cross functional team by implementing recovery plans
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering, preferably B.S in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in an automotive product development environment
  • 6+ years mechanical product design experience
  • Product launch experience
  • 3+ years of 3D modeling parametric design & 2D drawings (preferably SolidWorks)
  • 3+ years of FEA simulation setup and analysis
  • Interest in automotive /motorsports & their chassis components
  • Maintain project scheduling timelines and meet due dates using project planning tools
  • Basic understanding of product development processes
  • Strong familiarity with MS Excel and Word
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in coating & plating technologies (e-coat, powder coat, chrome, anodize)
  • Experience in manufacturing processes
  • Experience in welding and fabricating a plus
  • Familiarity with MS Project or other project timing software
  • Detailed knowledge in automotive/motorsports & their chassis components
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5-1994 GD&T
  • Motorcycle license
