Western Power Sports is seeking an experienced Benefits Specialist to join our growing Human Resources Team in Boise, ID to focus on administering all group health benefits and insurances that fall outside of Worker’s Comp and 401K administration.

A well-qualified individual will have 3 to 5 years of experience with benefits administration, insurance claims and payments, HIPAA Privacy and Security, self-funded insurance and PPACA requirements for compliance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Enroll new employees in benefit plans and provide benefits orientation for medical, dental, vision reimbursement, life, supplemental insurance, disability, HSA, HRA, FSA and Cafeteria Plans
  • Assist the Worker’s Comp Administrator, if needed, in preparing reports of injury for all locations and contacts work comp insurance company to file claims, resolve issues and answer questions from providers and employees
  • Assist, as needed, in maintaining, completing and filing OSHA and BLS reporting requirements
  • Process status changes and updates online and in HRIS system with new enrollment statuses
  • Plan and coordinate annual open enrollment for insurance and 401k plans. Including: coordination with vendors, brokers and TPA’s for a timely start date; deliver informational classes; email company-wide communications and follow-up on change deadline; ensure offsite locations are provided excellent service for a seamless open enrollment experience
  • Promote and build positive broker, vendor and TPA relations and make contact to investigate discrepancies and provide employees information in non-routine situations
  • Provide employees forms and process forms and requests through vendors or TPAs
  • Evaluate and compare existing employee benefits with those of other employers or available markets by researching other plans and sources
  • Review current benefit utilization and report findings to Management
  • Become actively involved in high-claim reviews, collections reports, or cost-plus program claims to provide plan members service in understanding the claims process
  • Prepare materials and present benefit plan changes to employees and review current information to determine improvements necessary for better change communications
  • Issues annual individual summary of benefits to employees
  • Maintains separate and compliant employee benefit files and issues HIPAA regulations and administration
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Audit monthly invoices against payroll deductions and online enrollment statuses to check for discrepancies

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE        

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus three (3) to five (5) years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience REQUIRED
  • SHRM-CP and/or CEBS professional designations PREFERRED
  • Experience with, and understanding of, self-funded health care plan administration REQUIRED
  • Experience with Kaiser California plans a PLUS
  • Solid working knowledge of all applicable state and federal regulations; filing and compliance requirements that affect employee benefits programs, including: Social Security and DOL requirements, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, PPACA and Medicare REQUIRED
  • A self-starting learner with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal direction while maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency
  • A strong attention to detail and accuracy while managing multiple projects and processes
  • A talent for getting along with a broad range of employees and personalities while expressing difficult concepts simply and effectively
  • Adaptable and flexible to changing work environments and complex employee needs
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a passion for helping people and resolving problems and issues that arise for both employees and vendors
