POSITION TITLE: Director of Human Resources

REPORTS TO: President

LOCATION: Viola / La Crosse

Summary:

The HR Leader develops and administers strategies, policies and programs relating to all phases of human resources activity within the company. This person works closely with functional department heads to ensure the HR strategy is in support of the overall business strategy.

Responsibilities:

Promote and execute on the client’s valued-company culture.
Recruit, hire and run onboarding of all new talent with the support of your HR team
Develop and champion on-going training, management and leadership development
Motivate all site teams to achieve continuous process improvement, self-development, cross-training, safe behaviors, high performance teamwork and a customer focus toward employees and managers.
Develop and oversee employee relations efforts and related communication strategies.
Lead the performance review process to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within the organization.
Advise and consult with management in the resolution of employee performance issues.
Lead employee retention efforts with the objective of continually reducing employee turnover and enhancing employee engagement.
Oversee company safety program—participate in meetings, recommend policies and procedures, enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct safety audit tours, review accident analysis and trends, accident statistics and reports.
Develop the budget for benefits, recruitment, talent development, employee relations and other human resource functions, and manage to that budget.
Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions, and ensure policies, procedures, required training and reporting are in compliance.
Provide guidance regarding policies, procedures and programs, ensuring consistency when appropriate.
Lead HR continuous improvement effort for processes and policies. Establish and report key HR performance metrics.
Respond to inquiries from the community and other organizations regarding financial, public relations and/or advertising support.
Work effectively with HR suppliers and/or coordinates their services: Benefits programs, employment law services, facilities management, security, communications, furniture, etc.
Participate on special assignment teams as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

The HR Leader oversees all recruiting, compensation/benefits, employee relations, safety and communication, administrative duties and all other duties tied to the HR function.

Required Education/Experience:

8-15 years related experience leading an HR function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Management or general business experience, along with the ability to be strategic as the company forges ahead with growth plans and goals that will positively impact the business
Current in practices of employee supervision, process and policy development and implementation, etc.
Preferred Education/Experience:

Master’s degree (M. A.)
HR certification
Language and Communication Skills

Read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents
Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
Make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
