POSITION TITLE: Powersports Software Calibration Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering

LOCATION: Viola / LaCrosse / or via Remote

JOB SUMMARY:  The Power Sports software calibration Engineer will be responsible for investigating existing ECU tables and control strategies and modifying the code to take advantage of performance products while remaining emission compliant. Investigation may include using tools such as Alientech, Etas, Canalizer, or others. This position will be an integral part of a cross functional team dedicated to expanding our electronics / calibration product line.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Use tools and experience to integrate and modify existing engine control modules and calibrations.
Identify and effectively modify calibration maps for engine air charge, fuel delivery, transient fuel, ignition timing, throttle control, speed and power limits, closed-loop fueling and chassis functions where applicable.
Work with greater engineering team to test and validate effectiveness of modified software and tables ensuring compliance with all government regulation
Develop engine calibrations to meet performance, drivability, reliability, and emissions requirements.
Use experience and engineering principles to develop and specify test procedures and equipment necessary to conduct powertrain performance and control system development testing on power sports vehicles, including on and off road.
Understand and modify engine control module (ECM) software function and CAN data. Recommend , implement, and validate algorithm changes.
Develop engine component, hardware, and software integration plans. Work closely with the component design and hardware groups. Prepare and present formal documentation as required.
Provide clear and concise design documents for each project. Collect, analyze, and document results of data.
QUALIFICATIONS:

BS or MS engineering degree with a minimum of 3 years of engine testing and calibration software development related experience. Knowledge of how engines operate.
Direct experience operating power sports vehicles required (motorcycles, ATV/UTV, racing vehicles, etc). Power Sports enthusiast preferred.
Experience with Bosch, and/or Mitsubishi ECM’s required.
Knowledge and use of ECM interrogation tools.
Basic Governmental regulation knowledge (EPA, CARB, Euro) a plus
Ability to work in a group, share knowledge, and mentor team members.
Hands-on experience repairing / modifying air-cooled or automotive engines preferred
Able to multitask, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
