Overview

New Haven Powersports, a multi-line motorcycle dealership located in New Haven, CT is looking for qualified candidates for a service department advisor.   Motorcycle riding, confident knowledge of motorcycles/atv’s/powersports, computer competency and general mechanical knowledge are a must.

Ideal applicants must have a friendly personality and superior communication skills for a retail environment position.  Be prompt, dependable and available for flexible scheduling, Saturdays are a must.   Hours are generally M-S 10am – 6 pm (4 pm Saturday) full time, occasional overtime in the busy season.  Background and drug screening may be performed.

Service department advisor staff candidates:

Intakes customer vehicles, notes problems and service needs, schedules work, assigns jobs to service technicians and communicates job status to customer.  Note problems accurately, and clearly describe them on the repair order.  Estimate costs and completion times at point of sale. Clearly communicate them to customer.  Make estimates for internal and wreck repairs.  Open & close all customer paid, warranty, and internal repair orders.  Follow procedures for quick and efficient handling of warranty items, including tagging and proper storage of these items.

Recommend parts and service which may be required for a job, supply costs of parts and labor to customers.  Must be able to communicate technical information from mechanics to customers regarding their vehicle.  Possible on the spot evaluation for walk in customers.

Handle telephone transactions quickly and courteously.  You must call and email customers back quickly and efficiently.  Must possess the ability to work with several customers at one time while maintaining individual customer satisfaction.  Accept cash and credit card payments for merchandise and service.  Keep cash register accurate.  Must have the ability to stand, and walk the sales floor and parts room for most of the day frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach and lift 25-50 lbs of merchandise.   Candidates MUST be physically able to push and handle motorcycles. Potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle environment.
