Summary Description:
Assure high levels of service department proficiency and quality of work by assisting the service manager with quality control, efficiency of technicians, and by performing major service work in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform prompt, dependable, high quality, motorcycle service work for (internal & external) customers.
  • Perform major motorcycle service work (i.e. engine overhauls, customer fabrications, wreck repairs, etc.).
  • Perform motorcycle service work (or be highly involved with repairs) on all come-backs to ensure all problem areas are corrected.
  • Ensure all customer expectations are met.
  • Create detailed estimates for complicated repair orders such as insurance claims, wreck repairs, and customizations.
  • Assist the Service Manager with quality control along with continual improvement of overall service department proficiency.
  • Inspect all outgoing work for completeness, thoroughness, safety, and quality.
  • Review all technicians’ work-in-progress to ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Occasionally assist technicians when they are having difficulty performing service work.
  • Maintain and improve technician productivity and efficiency by assigning tasks within their realm of competency during busy times and coaching them to improve both knowledge and speed during down times.
  • Notify Service Advisor and/or Service Manager of additional work needed or any delays in expected completion as soon as they become known so that customer may be contacted and notified of the delay.
  • Maintain technical qualification by completing any necessary training programs assigned by the Service Manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications & Job Requirements:

  • 1-2 years in a leadership/supervisory/shop foreman role.
  • Completion of factory authorized formal training programs such as MMI Service School or have at least 5 years at a Harley-Davidson dealership.
  • Must be considered at a minimum an Advanced Level Technician by H-D guidelines.
  • Equipped with proper tools and ability to work on all Harley-Davidson models.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and relationship with all other employees.
  • Capable of pushing and loading motorcycles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with motorcycle endorsement and ability to be approved by dealership insurance.
  • Passion for the motorcycling lifestyle and riding community.
  • Attention to detail.
  • High energy level needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, Holidays, and evenings.
  • Proficient in meeting deadlines on a timely manner.
