Job Summary

The Merchandising Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the retail sales floor and its appearance, promotions, displays, and maintaining the right mix and level of stock to ensure the efficiency of the retail sales department. They are responsible for assisting internal and external customers with inquiries, orders, and purchases of parts and accessories for motorcycle and power sports products. As with all positions within our dealership, a Merchandising Coordinator is expected to be committed to excellent customer service, uphold the highest ethical standards, and work cooperatively with all departments.

Essential Functions – Retail Sales Merchandising

Review all stock orders to ensure a fast-moving balanced inventory of Parts & Accessories.
Maintain sufficient quantities of stock to support demand and acceptable inventory turn ratio.
Supervise and maintain an accurate up-to-date inventory management and control system.
Generate and review Inventory reports from Dealer Information System.
Maximize return on investment of Parts and Accessories inventory.
Grow the volume of Parts and Accessories sales.
Maintain budgeted revenue and expense objectives.
Develop advertising and promotional campaigns for merchandise.
Provide reports to Department or General Manager, as requested.
Develop monthly and annual objectives for the department in collaboration with Parts Manager or General Manager.
Plan and execute “exceptional” promotions to bring both new and existing customers into the dealership on a regular basis.
Partner with the Parts and General Managers to develop seasonal financial plans at various levels of detail.
Lead and manage a line planning process that includes style selection and product flow ensuring synergy with financial plans.
Develop assortments that support overall strategy of in stock positioning for key merchandise categories.
Help develop, manage and execute merchandising and marketing strategies that will lead to meeting and exceeding sales and margin goals.
Recap business weekly, monthly and seasonally and react to business needs as they arise in a timely manner.
Manage inventory levels thru markdowns/promotions
Monitor and update forecasts due to sales trends, merchandise availability and other changes in the business.
Analyze product performance on a department, classification, vendor and style level and react appropriately to sales trends.
Customer Service to Assist Parts Counter staff when needed

Interact with customers on the telephone, face-to-face, or via computer.
Greet all customers he/she comes in contact with in a courteous manner.
Recommend products appropriately.
Look up and order parts using parts manuals (hard copy and electronic).
Provide quotes and other information to customers.
Use a cash register to collect payments and return proper change.
Follow prescribed cash, credit, and check processing procedures of the dealership.
Interface with service technicians and ensure their parts and accessories needs are met.
Use and operate a computer and multiple computer programs.

Maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient retail sales floor and parts environment.
Follow all safety guidelines for the department and the dealership.
Follow up on shortages and expedite by reporting to the Parts Manager.

Minimum Education (or substitute experience)

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience and/or knowledge of motorcycle and powersports accessories.
Retail or merchandising experience.
Lightspeed or DMS experience a plus
Parts knowledge a plus

The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
The ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
Financial Skills required

Understand basic financial principles such as profit margins, budget preparation, etc.
Ability to manage and sort through multiple sets of numbers.
Computer Skills required

Possess basic computer skills.
The ability to learn dealer management software and other related software.
The ability to use electronic messaging systems.

Available to work 9am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday.
Ability to extend hours to evenings and weekends to achieve goals.

Merchandising Coordinator is an intermediate to advanced level position. The person in this position has at least 2 years of experience in retail or merchandising with prior responsibility for directing or overseeing the retail sales floor and product displays. This person can contribute to planning and purchasing, is able to monitor inventory, and is self-directed and self-initiated. This person can successfully assist and work with the Parts Manager in the department. This person can also understand and can discuss the application and implications of changes to processes, policies, and procedures in this area.
