Managing Editor, EPG Media & Specialty Information

EPG Media & Specialty Information is looking for an experienced journalist to fill a managing editor role on a consumer magazine.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished editor who is comfortable moving between a number of tasks in a fast-paced environment and coordinating editorial efforts in print and online. Position will be located in Plymouth, MN or Camarillo, CA.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinating editorial workflow for print, online and social media platforms
  • Managing back-end systems for organizing editorial contributions
  • Writing and researching features for print and online platforms
  • Planning and assigning editorial coverage in conjunction with the editor-in-chief
  • Representing EPG at media and public events, including editorial, photographic and video coverage
  • Contributing on a daily basis to websites and social media

Desired skills and experience:

Minimum five years writing/editing experience in a motorcycle-oriented environment
Intermediate to advanced photography and video skills
Broad experience with the motorcycle market
Intermediate to advanced street motorcycle riding skills
Experience managing staff and/or freelance writers/photographers
Public speaking ability, comfort level and confidence
Strong time management skills
Willingness to travel for product launches and other events
Command of the English language, including a firm grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation rules
Attention to detail for editorial, proofreading and administrative tasks
Clear communication skills and considerable diplomacy when interacting with writers and staff
Ability to manage many different tasks at once
Working familiarity with online and print publishing software such as InCopy, InDesign and WordPress, as well as Microsoft Office and Google products
Extensive experience with best practices for social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest)
Deep expertise with WordPress SEO principles and implementation of best online practices

Educational Requirements:

Candidates need to have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or communications, or equivalent work experience
