TITLE: ASA Executive Director
REPORTS TO: ASA President
SUMMARY: As the primary leader of the American Sand Association, the Executive Director role is pivotal to the long-term success of the organization. The ED will need to develop, and revise as necessary, the three to five year strategic goals of the ASA, as well as execute key initiatives for the organization. The ED is the first point-of-contact for inquiries from various sources and entities that involve activities in Sand Sport OHV Recreation Areas and brings to the attention of the ASA Board of Directors any and all issues of importance that require board review, involvement and direction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and maintains a long-range, strategic plan including but not limited to government relations, fund-raising, financial planning, and Board of Directors succession planning.
Acts as the first point of contact between the ASA and various government agencies involved in the management of Sand Sport OHV Recreation Areas.
Develops and maintains relationships with current and future supporting businesses, and actively seeks out Major Sponsors.
Oversees and directs ASA staff and volunteer network.
Identifies and brings to the ASA Board of Directors any and all issues that pertain to the ASA role of being the premier organization supporting continued off road recreation activities.
Manages ASA involvement with partner organizations.
Represents ASA at major events, meetings and media opportunities.
Prepares for, schedules, and conducts monthly ASA Board of Directors meeting and committee meetings where appropriate.
7+ years senior nonprofit management experience working with key leadership
High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors
Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community
Transparent and high integrity leadership skills
Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting
Strong written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results
Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community
Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers
Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy
Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors
Experience in the automotive, motorsport, Powersports of off-road industry
Strong public speaking ability
