In this role, the Styling Modeler II works independently and with diverse product design/development teams in performing a full range of creative digital modeling functions relevant to departmental and organizational needs including interpreting product concept, styling and engineering requirements, creating digital models and verifying conformance to design specifications.

Employs creative visualization, sculpting and surfacing skills to produce finished models/package model data as assigned. Acts as PIC for assigned area of specialty. May act as Project Leader (PL) for assigned projects. Work assignments are performed within defined latitude for independent judgment, problem solving and decision making as well as defined parameters for accuracy, quality, efficiency and compliance with time schedules and applicable policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, transportation design or graphic design or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience
  • Knowledge/understanding of how engineering, tooling and manufacturing impact 3-D builds
  • Knowledge/understanding of surface development, form and theory
  • Ability to create finished 3-D models using hands-on sculpting or Alias Studio tools
  • Ability to successfully incorporate engineering criteria into finished clay models and package model data
  • Ability to contribute creative styling solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to demonstrate speed, accuracy and form knowledge in clay modeling production
  • Ability to use equipment/machinery required to perform job
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and concept/styling data
  • Ability to understand and apply tooling requirements and modifications
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies
